It is the 4th of July tomorrow and I am going to go out today and buy me a USA Soccer Association T-Shirt to wear tomorrow. I love following our national team, and I am sure that if you live outside of the US you love to support your national team as well. I can’t think of a more patriotic thing to wear than a soccer shirt that supports my national team!
David Beckham is doing well with the L.A Galaxy this year and he will be visiting a city near you some time this season. He was named the MLS player of the week for his efforts in the second week of the season. He scored once and assisted another goal to lead the Galaxy to a 2-0 victory over San Jose. He is usually the one assisting the ball so it was great to see him finish one himself. His assist was to Landon Donovan and it secured the victory for the Galaxy. If these 2 players get it together this season they will definitely be in the mix at the end of the season. That is a deadly combination in the MLS with Beckham assisting to Donovan. I am excited about what he has already done for the MLS, there is more excitement for this season than any other season the MLS has experienced.

This last week we had some great weather and I was able to get out and play some outdoor soccer. There is no better feeling than playing outside for the first time after a long winter! For all of you that live in warmer climates you are lucky you can play outdoors all year long, but you will never be able to experience the thrill of playing outdoors again right after the snow has melted. We laced up our boots and headed to a park and played for several hours and it was a blast! It was around 45 degrees outside and we felt like we were in heaven. I realized I am in desperate need for some new cleats so I will be checking out Adidas and ordering some new Copa Mundials. I hope everyone enjoys their spring soccer! We have tried to organize pick up games every Saturday morning the past few years, and I would recommend for everyone to do it in their neighborhoods as well! If I am not posting as much you all know I am probably out playing somewhere!

This story takes place when I was a freshman in High School playing for my J.V team. It was an away game, so the Varsity team stayed to watch the game as well as all of the coaching staff. I was trying to impress the coaches and get my first shot at playing for the Varsity team. It was a close game and there was about ten minutes on the clock, I was having a good game and our team was doing really well. I received a pass on the right side of the field and headed up field right in front of our team bench. There was not a player within 20 yards of me and I had open field in front of me. As I was dribbling down the field I must have stepped on the ball or something. I fell flat on my face in front of the whole team and coaches. Luckily I had enough time to get up and continue dribbling down field before anyone was able to even get close to me. I was so embarrassed, not only was my team laughing, the other team was laughing as well. We ended up winning the game and afterwards the Varsity coach and my whole team came up to me and had a good laugh about my fall. The rest of the season I ended up getting some Varsity time, but I never lived down stumbling over the ball when I was wide open! My coach teased me for all four years I was in High School about that tumble. Whenever I see him, 7 years later, he will still mention it and get a good laugh.

There is nothing like soccer in the spring! I live where there are four seasons and I love it when the snow melts and I can get outside and kick a ball around! I love the smell of the grass as it is coming back to life after winter. I love running around and breathing in the fresh air! I love preparing for the upcoming season and making sure I was ready to perform at my highest level! I love going to adidas Soccer to get all of the latest gear!
